Hey New Yorkers. Where in NY do you figure that Friends takes place? Since they all hung out at Centrel Perk, I figure it was around Central Park. But that's a big park. Any ideas?
It was set in the West Village, Oli. They stated it a bunch of times over the years. The Village is well south of Central Park in Lower Manhattan. The exterior shot of the building (shown in almost every episode) shows the intersection of Bedford and Grove Streets.
And FYI: Greenwich Village is home to the second or third most expensive zip code in the country today. So unemployed chefs, out of work actors, coffee house singers, and geek paleontologists are probably commuting from the outer boroughs to meet for that cup of coffee today .
