I got my first cell phone in 1989, a few years before they became the norm. It was a Motorola about the size of a VHS tape, but a little narrower. By '93, or '94 the smaller flip phones were starting to become popular, and by the mid or late '90s the Motorola StarTAC seemed so far out that it may as well have come off the USS Enterprise. We've come a long way since Maxwell Smart and his shoe phone (which to a grade school kid in the '60s was just about the coolest thing ever).


lol The size of a VHS tape no joke. I'm picturing you with a pager maybe even two pagers on u and ur phone constantly attached to your ear cuz back then you only had a phone for one reason, to conduct business. What was reception like in the city? Could you even get good reception there?

I grew up watching the Jetsons. So much of the tech on that show is in use today. It's almost unbelievable.
