Former Philadelphia auto shop owner Ronald Galati was sentenced to 22 years in prison Monday for trying to have his daughter's then-boyfriend killed in a murder-for-hire plot that unfolded in Atlantic City.

No members of Galati's family were in attendance for the sentencing hearing in federal court in Camden.

Assistant US Attorney Jason Richardson told Judge Joseph Rodriguez in federal court in Camden that Andrew Tuono, who survived the shooting, might have died if not for a jammed gun.

"He was shot because Mr. Galati did not like him," he said.
