The Atlantic City Race Track (horses) is closing Friday. You probably didn't know they had one. It opened in 1946. Opening day attendees included Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Princess Grace. For the past dozen years it had an off-track betting facility and would have a few days of racing in the Spring with attendance around 12,000. Early day attendance was in the 30,000 to 40,000. To drive by it you would think it was abandoned. Owners cited the lack of interest in horse racing, the economy and the recent closing of 4 casinos. No plans for the property.
