Nab 3 for Sex Assaults
NORTH WILDWOOD - City police detectives arrested three Philadelphia men in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a 12-year old and 14-year-old female at an apartment house in the 100 block of East 21st Avenue Aug. 6. Arrested were: Michael Ciancaglini, 19, Steven Powers, 18, and Michael Anthony Piccolo. 18. Each were charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and conspiracy and initially held in county jail under $500,000 cash bail. A bail review hearing was held in Superior Court Aug. 11 before Judge Michael A. Donio in Mays Landing Assistant County Prosecutor Robert Moncrief told the judge he has a five-minute video showing three adult males and one juvenile assaulting the girls. He said the defendant's faces are seen in the video and names are mentioned on the audio portion. Judge Raymond Batten recused himself from the case because of familiarity with a relative of Powers. Donio reduced bail to $300,000 for each of the three suspects. A 17-year old juvenile may be tried as an adult.
