"D'Angelo was employed as the general foreman at the New York Post in the 1970s and 1980s. He served under reputed Bonanno crime family caporegime James Galante. He was nicknamed "The Mad Hatter" (after Gambino crime family mob boss Albert Anastasia because of his violent temper. In the 1960s he let fellow employees at the newspaper plant and mobsters that he had been convicted of murder in the 1960s. Leo D'Angelo was fired from his position at the New York Post after being convicted of extortion in 1990. After he was sentenced to prison, John Nobile, another mobster who served under James Galante at newspaper replaced him."
