I have Windows 7 also but am sure my next computer will be Windows 8 since I hear they won't be making 7 anymore.

My daughter just got a new computer that's an 8. Anyway, I have only used it a few times. It's got a totally different look with the desktop looking like an I-Phone with lots of apps. It'll take a bit to get use to but my daughter is happy with it.

Since the Windows 8.1(update 1) update, you make Windows 8 act and look more like Windows 7. You can also install a free program called "Classic Shell" which pretty much makes Windows 8 exactly like Windows 7. That's what I use since I can't stand Windows 8's user interface.
