Please. Most wiseguys I've known think a Rembrandt is a disposable razor.
Not just wiseguys, most people in general. That's kind of my point, how would you sell famous art if you did manage to steal it. Probably better off stealing disposable razors.

might be a market for it. But they wouldn't know where to find it.
It would have to be a rich eccentric who wanted the piece just for his own pleasure and didn't feel the need to show it off (because he couldn't). But wiseguys and rich eccentrics rarely cross paths.
A number of posts on this thread touched on it, a lot of the time a ransom payment by insurance companies is paid over to the gang,
It is less money to pay out over all,the owner would have got A LOT MORE of insurance companies.
