Most of the smart members have a legit job to show for income to the IRS, even if it is a no show job.
That's what I always thought. I figured that most of the jobs were no show....nobody really thought John Gotti sold plumbing supplies door to door.
I thought many had partnerships in legit businesses- maybe they were invited in for protection, or were cut in to pay off an outstanding gambling debt. And once a mobster becomes a partner, then you get into money laundering....
