I have heard stories from others over the years that believed a Joe Spano who owned a bakery and Nicholas Colesanti who owned a restaurant and were prominent members of the community were involved with the Black Hand. Spano with Alcohol and Colesanti with bookmaking I think not sure? Do you happen to know why they called it the Black Hand instead of LCN or mafia?
