This is why it was called the A, B and C wars. Pittsburgh was the primary ally of "The "B team" who fought for a separate Rochester family which would have close ties to Pittsburgh. Frank Velante was at one time in fact, a made member of the Pittsburgh family. But make no mistake, the A-B-C war itself lasted roughly from 1970 to 1982, with early skirmishes as early as 1964, and the collateral battles until around 1990, at NO time did Rochester ever fully sever from Buffalo. Yes you will see "Rochester family" used everywhere from forums like this to Wikipedia, even the FBI has used the term. But unless you count a faction who was continuously under siege who never got their hands on 90% of the cash flow as a "family", it never existed.
