while i dont believe there has ever been a family that has been exclusively based out of south america, i believe that the Cun trera-Caruana clan set up a presence in Venezuela through out the 1980s and 90s. they were heavily involved in the global cocaine trade being the middle men between south american cartels and the distributors in North America and Euorpe.
