+1 on that,there were much smarter bosses in Sicily than Toto Riina,he wanted to kill everybody who went against him,or disobeyed.That's not way mafia should operate,after Toto Riina's violence state went in battle against them which led to a lot of bosses being arrested etc.

For Sicily i would say Calogero Vizzini.


All true, sorry. Think somewhere between reading the replies and actually posting I forgot this was originally a "greatest" mob boss discussion and posted thinking it were "most powerful".

In terms of military power, I agree though Riina was the strongest. If Vizzini had been still alive in the 80s, he would probably have been whacked.
