States like California, New York and Florida actually pay more taxes than they get back, so in essence all these crazy morons in the tea party states are living off the Federal dime and complaining about it all the way to the bank. Moreover if you look at the stats of who voted for whom, it is no contest that the most educated people voted for Obama while the lesser educated people voted for Romney. I'll add gratuitously that WHEN Obamacare kicks in, it will be the more educated, richer, slimmer people sunsidizing all those obese diabetic red state cretins who live on grease, and celebrate their weddings to their daughters and sisters with deep fried turkeys.
The cost of living and property values are much lower in the south, especially the cost of housing, so wages and taxes are lower. Plus the minority-heavy rural areas, particularly in the South, should also be considered when concerning which states received more federal spending than they paid in taxes, which states are better educated, and who's actually going to benefit from Obamacare.
Considering (California) is on the verge of bankruptcy probably not the best example to illustrate your point. While most red states (Texas) would be doing fine. WE would not be in this recession if it wasn't for Barney, and Dodd forcing the banks to give loans to everyone that could fog a mirror. They would rather make as many people as possible dependant on the gov't, give them just enough to survive but stay dependant.
