Chris without the protection of Tony would have been whacked by Richie Aprile in Season 2.
He would've been whacked by Junior in season 1 if it wasn't for Tony. Junior wanted to hit both Filone and Moltisanti, but ultimately, and due to Tony being his "nephew", Junior opts to kill Filone and order a mock execution on Moltisanti as a warning.
