I think it was back in to 70s that there was a movie about a guy who courted danger and enjoyed it. I vaguely remember once scene where he went to a bad part of town, solicited a prostitute, and ended up getting sliced on his face. He seemed to enjoy all of it. I was thinking the actor was James Caan. Does my description ring a bell with anyone?

At first it didn't ring any bells. I think you might be thinking of Cinderella Liberty. If I am not mistaken Marsha Mason played a prostitute and Caan was a Sailor. I saw the movie when it was first released but I just don't remember much about it.

I'll have to watch it, but I don't think that's it. I remember the main character as a gambler type who courted danger. To add to what I posted above, the scene where he got into it with a bad guy and got sliced on the face, he seemed to enjoy it or take pride in it. Ring a bell?
