I think the altercation between Gensale and his killers was one that arose because the shooters were trying to kill a target, not an altercation that arose from a previous disagreement or even one that spontaneously happened. Remember: Gensale was merely leaving the martial-arts school he had been attending for years when the altercation and shooting occurred.

Perhaps the following, which I posted on the RealDeal, might help you understand the eerie coincidences.

Below is a link to one article that was about four murders' taking place over a 14-hour period, as well as an excerpt from that article that contains information about the murder of Gensale, who had yet to be identified:

Then some twelve hours later, the same major crimes investigators were called to the scene of a fourth homicide, this time a man in his 40s, shot dead in broad daylight on the street in Ahuntsic-Cartierville. According to witnesses, the man was involved in some kind of altercation on St. Laurent Blvd., near Sauriol St., when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot at him, hitting him in the upper body. The man was declared dead on the scene, said Montreal Police Constable Daniel Lacoursière. The suspect or suspects fled on foot, witnesses said. No arrests have been made in this case, or the other two.

Here's a link to one article about the attempted murder of Giuseppe Fetta:

And here are some article excerpts:

Fetta was taken to a hospital after having been shot at around 10:10 a.m. on St. Laurent between Sauriol and Fleury Sts. He was shot at least once while standing beside a car when the shooter came up on foot. After firing, the man ran off....

On Nov. 15, Tony Gensale, a 43-year-old convicted drug dealer, was fatally shot close to the location of Monday’s attempt on Fetta....

[Montreal police Constable Anie] Lemieux said the fact that Fetta was shot so close to where Gensale was killed is certainly something investigators will look into. But she also said it is too early to draw conclusions linking any of the shootings to each other. It is also not clear whether Gensale had ties to Awada or Fetta, police sources said on Monday....

The above seems to explain why Gensale may have been killed in a case of mistaken identity. Back on December 17, one blogger at the well-known blogspot coolopolis.blogspot.ca wrote about Fetta being shot at, writing

The shooting occurred at a spot near a garage where Fetta had previously been busted with guns and it's also almost exactly the same spot that Tony Gensale, 43, was shot dead after finishing his Tae Kwon Do lesson on Nov. 15.
