Soldiers of Fortune An interesting article about the UWSA. A paramilitary/cartel organization based in the lawless hills of Northern Burma, home of the ethnic Wa people. Involved in drug trafficking, weapon trade, contraband smuggling, murder,...and lots of gruesome conflicts. The top leaders even seem to dress like wealthy gangsters.
Just as with the AUC, Los Rastrojos, Aguilas Negras in Colombia, the REAL IRA in Ireland, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka, the UWSA of Burma is another example of the extremely thin line between a paramilitary group and a criminal syndicate.
