With all the hype surrounding the book, as I was reading it I said to myself "This is supposed to be scary?"

The scariest book about the mob? Ever?! I don't think so.

These guys were brutal but the way the murders were talked about in the book were not really creepy. Shoot the guy in the head then cut him up. Thats pretty much all they did. When they described it as the same way as killing a deer, I pretty much thought it was no big deal. There really wasn't that much suspense at all. The way they killed guys were very quick.

Now if they would have hid in bushes or went to people's homes late at night, calling their phone and hanging up or breathing heavy on the other line without saying anything, that would have been very creepy. How about having someone stand outside the house in all black looking up into their window? How about cutting their phone lines? But just inviting a guy somewhere and then shooting him? Thats not really scary in my opinion. There's books that are way more scary than Murder Machine.
