Why don't we hear of homegrown mafia in these countries? Several million Italians emigrated to these countries. Over a million (many Sicilians) went to Brazil and a couple million Italians emigrated to Argentina. Occasionally we read of fugitives or maybe a retired gangster but nothing major like in other countries. Is it assimilation or some other reason? Outside Europe, most of the activity we read about occurs in anglo saxon countries (US, Canada and Australia). Thoughts?
