TB, I checked the website, and there are a couple of theaters in NJ and in Westchester, but they're as much of a drive as NYC. Obviously, the big difference would be the price of admission, which would be worth it.

Several years ago, my husband surprised me with tickets to Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci at the Met. I had a glass of the house champagne when we got there and I got a terrible allergic reaction (big surprise, it was called Kritter, no lie). My nose was running, I was sneezing, my eyes swelled up. At the intermission, I had to take a Benadryl. In the middle of Vesti la giubba, my husband turned to me and I was sound asleep. That was the first, last and only time he sprang for tickets. blush
