I used to wear jeans and sneakers to the Met for matinees.
We went to the Baltimore Opera House to see "Norma" about 17 years ago. Something inside told me to bring a suit. Good thing I did: everyone was dressed to the nines. That house had the most uncomfortable seats ever--narrower than on an airplane.
