They provide terrific interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff during intermissions. And the price is right: $20 for a seat in the movie house, vs. at least $150 for an average seat at the Opera House if you could get a seat.

Anyone here have any experience with Met Opera in HD?

I haven't. It sounds wonderful though. Does the theater get a large turnout for the shows?

Public radio used to broadcast a show on Saturdays (I think it was called "Live from the Met"), of which your post reminded me. Specifically, I remember the interviews with the cast, directors, etc. during the intermissions. Of course, it wouldn't compare to hiewing the performance in HD on the big screen.
