Miami Herald today has a column in which the writer discusses "dog whistles" in the GOP primary campaign--"coded" messages and references designed to appeal to voters' racism.

He writes that Rick Santorum said in Iowa City: "I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money." (Santorum later denied that he said the word "black," arguing that what he actually said was "blah." The denial is not credible. tongue
