Elvis Presley Museum Opens In Germany

Quote:
The biggest Elvis museum outside of the United States has opened to the public in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Located in Dusseldorf's historic Old Town, the museum will feature memorabilia from the King's career including 1,800 original pieces and documents.

A portion of the museum's collection is from 1958 to 1960, when Elvis served in the military in Germany. Those pieces include jewelry, furniture, clothing and his personal record collection.

One of the museum's founders, Oskar Hentschel, told The Local that one of his "favorite" items was a guitar Elvis bought in Germany and rebuilt:

"He bought an acoustic guitar and worked on it himself, turning it into a semi-acoustic - so it could be played with a small amplifier. We even managed to find his amplifier too, from a different collector, and they both work."
