I wasn't aware of that, but he sure picked the right place. Matera is absolutely the least changed area of the Southern Italian mainland over the past 2000 years. It is absolutely prehistoric. It's not really a tourist destination, but if you're interested in the history of Italy, then you have to check it out. It's really beautiful.
