funny if you read the indictment apparently one of the lawyers grew very fond of scarfo sr and wanted to help him get released and wished he met him earlier in life to get him out sooner and that his family was thankful for having scarfo sr in his life

also theres a section in there where the lawyer sends "legal mail" to scarfo sr in the can which since it is legal mail is not inspected, the mail was actually from scaro jr, the mail contained news clippings/articles talking about the lucchese nj crew and i would guess the bust involving the pernas around that time, scarfo sr then wrote a letter to jr which said soemthing like "they are all rats all of them, the old guys and the young guys even more" (most likely referring to the perna sr and jr) the letter was sent to the lawyer in the envelope titled "legal mail" and then promptly sent backl to scarfo jr
