Forgot to mention a couple weeks ago I tried sardines for the first time! The idea never really appealed to me, tho I do like anchovies. My friend Meredith liked them, so I got some for her to prove it to me -- we've been eating them ever since, and even expanding to try others like canned mackerel and I think herring is next (I like that, too, out of a jar; haven't tried it in a can).

"In water" anything is the most tasteless, and everything just tastes like tuna for the most part. But "in olive oil" or even canned with hot peppers or mustard are a tasty treat for sure, great on crackers.

The mackerel was in water, so nothing special. Tried smoked oysters which were good, but too smoky for my taste. But all in all, I'm a canned (exotic) fish fan now! wink

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol
