The 'milking' and abuse of unemployment benefits began long before the current "9.7% unemployment rate". Nobody's taking the benefit itself away...but the extensions courtesy of the taxpayer's dime have to end some time.

It is interesting though, that President Obama and his Democratic majority tried to get this bill through after vowing to 'create jobs' and bring unemployment down. Are gov't workers (and their benefits) paid by the taxpayer as well?

Courtesy of olivant:
"The rejected bill would have provided $16 billion in new aid to states, preserving the jobs of thousands of state and local government workers and providing what White House officials called an insurance policy against a double-dip recession. It included dozens of tax breaks sought by business lobbyists and tax increases on domestically produced oil and on investment fund managers."

Insurance policies against double-dip recession - I guess that means they see one coming...is that the kind of hope & change y'all voted for in '08?

November awaits.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
