Those early episodes were designed to do little more than hook American pop-culture back into the story of the Italian-American family(s), which it did, as audiences from all demographics flocked to this show in massive record numbers. But they didn't watch because they were all astute observers of mafia rules and tradition, and the show's producers knew that.
