With only about 12 games left in the season and the Brewers tied for the wild card in the NL, they fired their manager, Ned Yost, today.

They seemed to have a playoff spot sewn up a few weeks ago, but they have been playing poorly for a few weeks now.

The Brewers acquired Sabathia in June, knowing that in the off-season they're likely to lose him and another top pitcher on their staff, Ben Sheets. This was to be their shot at a postseason run, and they see it slipping away. They collapsed last year too. Normally, I would disagree with such a move, but under the present situation of the Brewers, I can't fault them for making a bold move.
