You're right on about Fred MacMurray, SC!!

I grew up watching him as the mild mannered dad on 'My Three Sons' before ever knowing he had had a long successful movie career. When watching him in 'Double Indemnity' and as that weazel 'Caine Mutiny', you sure forget all about that Mr. Douglas fellow!!

Another nod to Billy Wilder, though. 'Double Indemnity' was a far cry from those comedies MacMurray had been doing very well in. As with Ray Milland in 'The Lost Weekend', Wilder was able to dig out the dramatic acting chops of an actor more known for light comedy.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
