All the local tv networks interrupted their regular programming to report on the Con Ed problem. Its not certain but they suspect that a thunderstorm that went over Westchester County (just north of the City) MAY have affected the system. The subway signal lights have to be re-set (and properly timed) but as of now all electricity has been restored. About a half million people were affected.
Was the amount of people affected just from who would have taken the subway, or did people lose electricity to their homes? I do not even want to be in a situation in this oppressive heat and not have any a/c. That could be lethal.
