We're about a 30-40 minute drive to midtown, and a 1 bedroom goes for $1200. And that's not exactly in a luxury complex!

My brother was living in Battery Park, and paying $3,000 for a 1 bedroom. Granted, you could sit on his living-room couch and see the Statue of Liberty from the window, but $3,000?? And he only had a work kitchen, a living room with a dining "area" (translation - room for a table and 4 chairs) and a bedroom that was so small that he had to buy a new bedroom set because their old furniture didn't fit! After living for 20 years in a McMansion in Westchester, I don't know how he and his wife didn't kill one another in that tiny space.
