That was certainly a turbulent political time. It is certainly best known for the assassination of RFK in June and the police violence against the anti-war demonstrators at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which sparked one of my favorite Daleyisms, "The police aren't here to create disorder; they're here to preserve it."
