Even Robert De Niro who is more Irish than Italian made a great performance.
That's right ! I heard him say that he BECAME Italian when studying his character for "Mean Streets" and started to live in Little Italy and hang out with the local ppl to build his character. He also said he doesn't speak Italian or Sicilian (neither does Pacino) and had a language coach to teach him the right pronunciation.

I don't have anything against Andy Garcia but like some of you pointed out, he's very much involved in Cuban events and every time I watch GFIII it takes me quite some time to "accept" him as a Sicilian character, it's one of the (many) flaws of the movie, yet I love it !
