I'll tell you a cheap way to copywright something and it is totally legal and valid. Make a copy and send it to your self through the post. Make sure you don't open it in excitment of recieving post.

This way it has the date on it and gives you proof of ownership. If anyone challenges you take em to court, you've got all the evidence you need delivered to your door from most likely a reputable postal service.
