I finished reading Fools Die last week but I do not find it very interesting unlike the other books of Puzo. Yes, it deals about the casino and gambling but as an average person who does not venture in these things, it found it hard to understand though Puzo really tried his best for an ordinary reader to get the grasp of casino life.
The first few pages were dragging especially that it talked about the casino stuff and the characters, Jordan Hawley, Merlin and Cully Cross, were not that interesting. But Jordan's story disturbed me a lot after. I started reading the first few pages last year but i stopped. I decided to read it after The Fourth K thinking that it's also good since it is by Puzo.
The book is realistic and there are quotes that I really love, even my forum signature is taken from Fools Die. Also, it tackles social issues on love, marriage, sex, STDs, woman to woman relationship, etc.

"Only those we love most can cause our death, and
only of them we must beware. Our enemies can
never harm us... Virtue is its own reward and
fools are they who die."
