Last Saturday, the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio signed the decree that provides for the 41 bis to Leonardo "Nino" Abbruzzese , considered one of the leaders of the " gypsies " gang of Cassano Ionio .

The man, already accused in the " Athena " trial, is accused of mafia association as promoter and organizer «as he has decision-making autonomy in the illicit strategies of the gang, in particular for the commission of crimes of an extortion nature, alter ego of the brother Nicola Abbruzzese known as " Semiasse " and the latter's replacement as the main contact person for the association".

"Nino" Abbruzzese is also responsible for fine crimes, such as alleged extortion committed against entrepreneurs from Sibaritide , as well as criminal association dedicated to drug trafficking as an alleged participant, «with the task of conveying the provisions of the boss Nicola Abbruzzese and, more generally, encourage the circulation of information between the aforementioned and some members of the association".

The decision to impose hard prison was put forward in recent months by the DDA of Catanzaro, specifically by the public prosecutor Alessandro Riello , responsible at a territorial level for the Piana di Sibari area. This is a measure that probably closes the circle. As is known, all the leaders or presumed leaders of the 'Ndrangheta of Cosenza and Cassano are found in 41 bis. Now we will move on to the procedural phases where the investigative hypotheses will have to find support in the judgments on the merits
