Three men were today convicted on appeal for the murder of Rachid Kotar in December 2019. Jonathan C., previously sentenced to 25 years in prison, received 28 years in prison. Jurviën M., who was acquitted in court, was also sentenced to 28 years in prison by the court. Saifeddine M. also now received a prison sentence of 14 years. The shooters' sentences were higher because the Court also found them guilty of the attempted murder of Kotar's 5-year-old son.

Rachid Kotar was murdered on Thursday, December 12, 2019, in the parking lot of the Health City gym in Amstelveen. He was shot and killed around 5:15 PM when he let his then 5-year-old son get into his car. After the murder, the son literally had to step over his father's dead body when leaving the car.

28-year-old Jonathan C. is said to have been the shooter together with Jurviën M. (22). The third suspect, Saifeddine M . (25), according to the judiciary, was the spotter.

"The proven facts are serious and shocking," the Court stated in its ruling. 'There is a terrifying cold-bloodedness, which is seen as completely unconscionable. The convicts and those around them regarded committing serious criminal offenses as a way of life, just like being in serious crime circles. In addition to retaliation, the punishment is also intended to deter others from committing these types of crimes.

The police counted Kotar as part of the group of Samir 'Scarface' B., who was liquidated in Spain in 2014, and his brother Karim 'Taxi' B..
