February 3, 2024

On Saturday morning, an arrest team in Schijndel in Brabant arrested a 43-year-old Polish man on suspicion of a double murder in Poland. According to the police, the man is a renowned former MMA fighter (MMA stands for mixed martial arts). In Poland he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a man and a woman.

In his hometown of Bedzin, on New Year's Eve 2005, he hit a man and a woman in their home several times on the head with a punch and a sharp-edged object. The two subsequently died as a result of the attack.

Two days after his act, he also set fire to the couple's apartment, after which he fled.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2019, which was declared irrevocable in 2021. The Polish authorities informed the Dutch police that he was hiding here under a false identity. He may have worked in construction.

Polish authorities issued a European Arrest Warrant on June 20, 2021, so that foreign investigative authorities could start working on the case.

The ENFAST network is the European network of specialized police teams dedicated to the detection of fugitives. These teams provide each other with assistance. FAST Poland sought cooperation with FAST NL in October 2021.
