Bolivian police have made the largest cocaine seizure ever in the South American country, says President Luis Arce. More than 8,800 kilos of cocaine was found in the western region of Oruro, which was most likely intended for export to the Netherlands. Four suspects have been arrested.

Wood boards
The drugs were hidden in a truck transporting wooden planks. The cocaine was found under the wooden floor of the vehicle. The truck belonged to a company that was founded in 2007 and had previously exported items abroad, including Germany, China and France.

The batch was discovered on December 30, but the police wanted to arrest the suspects before announcing the largest drug seizure.

The Netherlands
According to the Bolivian authorities, the cocaine was destined for the port of Antwerp with the Netherlands as its final destination. The authorities estimate the street value of the drug shipment in Europe at 480 million euros.
