Ridouan Taghi's lawyers want the court to conduct more investigations into the injuries their client suffered from December 16, 2019, after he was arrested in Dubai.

According to Taghi's lawyer Michael Ruperti, Dubai informed the Netherlands on October 2, 2023 that Ridouan Taghi was handed over to the Netherlands without injuries after his arrest. According to Ruperti, these so-called execution documents were provided to Taghi's defense a few days ago by the Public Prosecution Service.

In an extensive statement to Een Today, Taghi announced in 2020 that he was severely abused for days by officers from Dubai and Morocco after his arrest. “I was held in a room with freezing cold and treated with electroshock,” wrote Taghi, who heard a life sentence demanded against him in the Marengo trial

According to Taghi, a photo that Dubai released after his arrest had been edited so that injuries were not visible. Photos taken after Taghi's arrival by a doctor from the Dutch Forensic Institute show injuries to Taghi's face.
