'Ndrangheta: drug arrests between Rome and Reggio Calabria
In the province of Rome and Reggio Calabria, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Rome, with the support of those of the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria, have been executing since the early hours of this morning an order ordering personal precautionary measures, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Rome at the request of the DDA of the Rome Prosecutor's Office, against 12 people, including Italians and Albanians, seriously suspected, in various capacities, of the crimes of association aimed at drug trafficking and drug dealing.
The investigation activity originates from some investigative findings coming from the broader investigation called "Tritone", conducted by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Rome and which, in February 2022, had dismantled a local 'ndrangheta rooted in the municipalities of Anzio and Nettuno, dedicated not only to drug trafficking but also to the conditioning of local political life and the control of economic activities and the awarding of local contracts.
In particular, in the Tritone investigation it was documented how one of the 'Ndrangheta members, having the ability to import large loads of narcotics from South America, in order to obtain further revenues, had expanded his sales activities of the narcotic from the municipalities of Anzio and Nettuno to the municipalities of Rocca di Papa and Grottaferrata, intertwining their affairs here with those of the association, made up of today's suspects.
The investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri of via In Selci, made it possible to reconstruct numerous sales of cocaine as well as documenting the logistical capabilities of the clan which also had the availability of a pilot of a private plane and an airfield for the narcotic imports. in the municipality of Nettuno.
