'Ex-Satudarah's are not allowed to work for Defense'
October 4, 2023

Two brothers from Tiel who were members of the now banned Satudarah MC are therefore no longer allowed to hold certain positions in Defense. According to Omroep Gelderland, the Utrecht administrative court has rejected a complaint from the brothers against this.

Twenty years in the military
Defense refused to give the two positions in the armed forces where they would have access to confidential information. The brothers then went to court.

They had been members of Satudarah since 2010. The motorcycle club was banned by the judge in 2018 because the club allegedly engaged in criminal activities and posed a threat to public order.

The pair have been military for more than twenty years. The brothers took part in many foreign missions.

Out of the way
The brothers denied there was a safety risk. They say they have not come into contact with criminal members and have avoided those contacts.

The administrative judge finds that it is established that the men still have contacts with former club members and that this is partly why Defense may doubt the suitability of the brothers for a confidential position.

Chapter Nijmegen
One of the two brothers was president of the Nijmegen chapter of Satudarah. The other also had a management position and, among other things, monitored order during club nights and parties.

In 2019, Defense withdrew the so-called declaration of no objection (VGB) for the two to fulfill a confidential position.
