Man who tried to run over anti-Mob priest charged
Don Antonio Coluccia, targeted by scooter man for drug campaigns

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 30 - A 28-year-old man who tried to run over an Italian anti-mafia priest in one of the suburbs of Rome Tuesday night was charged with attempted murder Wednesday.
Don Antonio Coluccia, dubbed 'father-courage', has been fighting for 25 years against mafia and drug rackets in the peripheries of Italian cities, many in the south, but not only.
The 48-year-old priest, from the Salento area of Puglia, has suffered death threats from the Mob and other drug dealers and has been living with a police escort for the last few years.
On Tuesday night in Tor Bella Monaca a 28-year-old alleged pusher, Sergio Del Prete, tried to knock over Father Coluccia and kill him, instead hitting one of the escorts with his scooter.
Police found a cleaver and a hammer in his backpack and he will also face charges of illegal weapons possession. (ANSA).
