He had escaped arrest ordered against him as part of the "Levante" operation coordinated by the DDA of Reggio Calabria which had involved a total of 36 people.

He had been on the run since October 2022, less than a year, therefore, but the importance of his arrest derives from the criminal depth of the character, considered among the most important drug traffickers at an international level.
