More than 1500 kilos of cocaine found between bananas in the port of Vlissingen

Customs found about 1500 kilos of cocaine in a container with pallets of bananas in the port of Vlissingen on Wednesday morning. It is the largest batch of drugs found in Zeeland this year.

110 million euros
Customs discovered the drugs through investigation. The container with bananas had already been unloaded from a seagoing vessel. It has not been disclosed from which country the container came. According to the judiciary, the drugs have an estimated street value of more than 110 million euros. The Seaport Police is conducting an investigation into those involved in drug smuggling.

Customs worked closely with the Seaport Police with the support of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and the Special Assistance Team (TBB).

The drugs have since been destroyed by the Customs Special Assistance Team.
