Detectives from the national unit of the National Police arrested a 29-year-old Dutch man in the Penitentiary Institution Veenhuizen on Monday on suspicion of involvement in the attack on the life of Peter R. de Vries on July 6, 2021. The man was in Veenhuizen a sentence of five years in prison for dealing in hard drugs and firearms. A total of nine suspects have now been arrested in the investigation.

Crime reporter Peter R. de Vries was shot in Amsterdam on July 6, 2021. He died nine days later. According to the national prosecutor's office of the Public Prosecution Service, the man who was arrested on Monday is probably part of the criminal organization that was involved in the murder of De Vries, among other things.
