Sil A. (44), the commando suspected of arms and drug trafficking and linked by the judiciary to Ridouan Taghi's network, was himself involved in plans in 2019 to eliminate Taghi in Dubai, according to his lawyer. That writes the Algemeen Dagblad .

According to A.'s lawyer Michael Ruperti, this is the only link his client has with Taghi, he said during the hearing of the criminal case on Monday. According to Ruperti, commando Sil A. is still surprised that he is associated with Taghi by the judiciary. 'My client suffers from being constantly linked to Taghi. He doesn't know him personally and doesn't think anything of this man.'

Secret operation
Shortly after his arrest in February 2022, A. would have said that in 2019 he was only involved in preparing the secret plan to pick up Taghi and possibly eliminate him in Dubai or Iran. The plan is said to have been discussed with employees of the secret services, among others.

A. had his doubts about an operation in Iran, but in Dubai – where Taghi was eventually arrested – he certainly saw possibilities. It would have been the first time that the Commando Forces Corps had actually been deployed to take out Taghi in the deepest secrecy in another country.
